The CLAT 2022 exam date has been revised to 19th June 2022 as per the recent update shared by the Consortium of National Law Universities. CLAT Exam Date 2022

Annual Executive Committee and the General Body Meetings of the Consortium of National Law Universities under the Chairmanship of Prof. Faizan Mustafa has announced the CLAT Exam Date in the press conference held at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. As per the announcement, two Common Law Admission Tests will be held in the year 2022. CLAT 2022 on 19th June 2022 (Revised) and CLAT 2023 on 18th December 2022. The detailed CLAT 2022 notification can be released this week as expected.

CLAT 2022- Overview

CLAT is a common law admission test conducted every year by the Consortium of National Law Universities and this year it is decided to be held twice (May & December 2021) Here we present the overview of the CLAT exam to give you a glimpse of the upcoming exam.

CLAT 2022 Application Form

The Online Application for CLAT Entrance Test has been started from 01st January 2022 for both UG & PG Courses. As per the recent update, the last date for submitting CLAT 2022 Application form has been extended to 09th May 2022. Click on the below link to submit your online form. 

Steps to fill CLAT 2022 Application Form

Step-I Get registered by entering details like name, email id and mobile number

Step-II Next fill in all relevant sections in the application form, including personal, academic and contact details

Step-III Upload scanned copies of signature, photograph and other documents in the prescribed specification. The size and format of pic is given below.

Step-IV Proceed to fill in the other required details like personal and qualification details, and preference for NLUs in the application form.

Step-V Finally, pay the application fee and then submit the completed application form.

CLAT Admission Process

In order to get admission in one of the 22 participating NLU’s, candidates need to appear for the CLAT 2022 online entrance exam, which will be conducted by NUALS Kochi this year.

Post that, the counselling round will start after the declaration of results, where the candidates will be granted a seat in the preference order of the NLU (as filled in the online application form), based on seat availability and merit list.

The National Law Universities (NLUs) in India (except for the NLU Delhi) and other top law colleges offer admissions to five-year integrated LLB courses, as well as LLM courses on the basis of CLAT scores. The courses offered are:

1. BA LLB (Bachelor of Arts LLB)

2. BSc LLB (Bachelor of Science LLB)

3. BCom LLB (Bachelor of Commerce LLB)

4. BBA LLB (Bachelor of Business Administration LLB)

CLAT 2022 Exam Pattern

CLAT Exam Pattern for UG Course

The CLAT question paper for UG Course will only be available in the English language. The UG-CLAT 2022 shall be a 2-hour test, with 150 multiple-choice questions carrying 1 mark each. Also, there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.

These questions would be divided across the following 5 subjects:

1. English Language

2. Current Affairs, including General Knowledge

3. Legal Reasoning

4. Logical Reasoning

5. Quantitative Techniques

CLAT Exam Pattern for PG Course

CLAT Exam for PG Course will be a two-hour exam of 120 marks. There are two sections in CLAT PG Exam 2022, one is of MCQ type and second one is subjective type. There shall be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.

The questions will be asked from the following sections:

1. Constitutional Law

2. Other areas of law such as Jurisprudence, Administrative Law, Law of Contract, Torts, Family Law, Criminal Law, Property Law, Company Law, Public International Law, Tax Law, Environmental Law, and Labour & Industrial Law

CLAT 2022 Eligibility Criteria

The terms and conditions that the candidate has to fulfil for appearing in CLAT 2022, depending on the course (UG/PG) the candidate is seeking for admission in Law School, are covered by CLAT 2022 eligibility criteria.

Eligibility criteria for UG program

Education Qualification: The candidate must have passed a 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognised university or board.

Percentage Requirement: A minimum of 45% marks in the qualifying degree is required to appear in CLAT 2022. SC and ST candidates need only 40% marks.

Age limit: There is no upper age limit.

Eligibility criteria for PG program

Education Qualification: The candidate must have passed LLB or equivalent exam from a recognised university.

Percentage Requirement: A minimum of 55% marks or its equivalent is required for candidates belonging to General/ OBC/ PWD/ NRI/ PIO/ OCI categories. SC/ ST candidates are eligible for 5% relaxation in minimum marks.

Age limit: There is no upper age limit.

CLAT 2022 Exam Centres

The candidate is generally allotted a CLAT test centre opted by him/her at the time of filling out the application form unless there is an unforeseen event, in which case one will be allotted an alternate centre. Candidates will be provided with all the details of the allotted test centre, like name and address, on their CLAT admit card. CLAT 2022 Admit Card

The CLAT Admit Card will be released around two weeks before the exam dates. As, the exam is scheduled to be held on 08th May 2022, the admit card tentatively will be released in April 2022.

CLAT 2022 Result

The authority will announce the result of CLAT 2022 once the exam is conducted successfully. Candidates can access the CLAT result through online mode only. The result will be consisting of the roll number, candidate details,  marks scored of the candidate. To qualify for the CLAT exam, the candidate needs to obtain minimum qualifying marks.
